2.1.2 Monitoring and Rapid Response Team Support Mike Weimer
Introduction and Objectives • 2.1.2-Funding supports FWS role on Monitoring and Rapid Response Workgroup and their prescribed actions
Current Knowledge • Specific FWS activities under 2.1.2: • DIDSON camera to determine barrier efficacy • Monitoring effectiveness of Des Plaines River Barrier • Electrofishing (CAWS, selected waters) • Asian carp gear monitoring/capture development and refinement • Support of other monitoring plan activities
Future Plans • 2011 version of the monitoring plan is currently under final review • The monitoring plan will be updated annually
Technological or Other Hurdles • Processes/permitting associated with Rapid Response actions (Rotenone permitting, Big City Logistics, eDNA result turn around time)
Data Gaps • Further refinement of interpretation of results from eDNA sampling • More robust interpretation of results from • traditional fishery gears (e.g. modeling, gear efficiency calibration)
