  1. The Information and Promotion Network – status quo Ligia Deca Head of the 2010 – 2012 Bologna Secretariat

General information • Open to all members of the Bologna Process/EHEA • Main tasks: • Develop an overview of existing initiatives/activities • Contribute to production of information material • Contribute to the EHEA website • Foster exchange and best practice • Design measures to enhance the promotion of the EHEA • Set up by the BFUG by endorsing the IPN Terms of Reference (ToR) in the Madrid BFUG meeting (18-19 February 2010); • Kick-off meeting on 28 May 2010 in Vienna, back to back with the International Openness (IO) WG meeting.

Milestones • Steering Committee election in Vienna (28 May 2010), comprising of: • Austria - Hubert Dürrstein (Chair), • Estonia – Heli Aru (Chair), • The Flemish Community of Belgium - Magalie Soenen (Chair), • Cyprus - Panikos Giorgoudes and • Hungary - Katalin Kurucz. • Steering Committee meeting in Bucharest (7 July 2010); • IPN sub-WG 1 (Chaired by DAAD) meeting in Bonn (17 December 2010); • ERT in Vienna (17 January 2011); • IPN meeting in Brussels ( date tbc).

IPN Workplan • Sub-Working Group 1 (Chaired by DAAD – Dr. Irene Jansen) • Main task: develop an overview of existing initiatives/activities in the field of promotion of national HE systems and the EHEA as a whole; • Survey conducted - > analysis ready and recommendations in place. • Members: Germany (DAAD, Chair), Austria, Estonia, Norway, Slovenia, EURASHE. • Sub-Working Group 2 (no Chair currently in place) • Main task: contribute to the production of information & promotion material and aid in the development of the EHEA website; • No current IPN members expressed their wish to be a part of this WG. • Members: The Flemish Community of Belgium. • 3.Sub-Working Group 3 (Chaired by OeAD – Prof. Hubert Dürrstein) • Main task: design measures to enhance the promotion of the EHEA; • ERT as a generator of viable parameters to frame the work of the WG3; • Members: Austria (OeAD, Chair), Germany(DAAD), Poland, Ireland.

  5. IPN – possible steps ahead • Discuss and possibly reshape the IPN Workplan, with a focus on the IPN “deliverables” for the 2012 Bucharest Ministerial Conference; • Schedule the 2nd IPN meeting to endorse the IPN Workplan and present the results of the work conducted so far; • Clarify the IPN sub-structures division and increase participation in the work being conducted by the sub-WG Chairs; • Clarify the cooperation between the IPN and the IO WG, with a focus on the organisation of “a round table (with the participation of the European Commission and other main actors in higher education promotion in Europe) to devise a “road map” and to identify opportunities and actions for enhancing European-level promotion”; • 5. Plan the drafting of the IPN report to be delivered to the Krakow BFUG meeting in October 2011, as requested by the BFUG and agreed within the IPN Steering Committee.
