  2. To start all teachers will use the following for username and as their password. Log In: The username will begin with a school number in front of your First and Last name. Bessie Weller : 70FirstLast McSwain: 90FirstLast Ware: 40FirstLast ( If you were teaching at Ware before consolidation the school number may be 80FirstLast.) For Example: 70BobSmith All beginning passwords are Testing1 After logging in the password can be changed but the username will remain the same.

  3. Logging In 1. Log in to Power Teacher at http://scspsimg.stauntoncs.net/teachers/pw.html 2. Enter your Username and Password as you would when taking attendance.

  4. Changing Passwords On the Navigation page, click on Personalize. Click on Change Password Enter in the new password and save. Click on Start Page to return to orginal screen.

  5. Launching Gradebook Using the left side menu. Click on Gradebook. * Just a note…. To return to the Navigation from any other page, click on the Power Teacher Logo in the top left corner.

  6. If you get this Warning- you need to click on the word run.

  7. This is your main grade book screen

  8. Setting the Year and the Quarter 1. Set the year to the current school year by clicking the arrow, scrolling the bar up or down and highlighting the year. Once selected, it should read 2012-2013 2. The quarter should be set to Q1. Change to new quarter here at the end of each quarter. 2. Set and change the quarter here 1. Set the year term here

  9. Specials’ Gradebooks can be used to score individual assignments. When assignments are created and scored, a *, + or x will appear in the Final Grades column based those assignment scores. If the score reflects what is to appear on the report card, the Manual Override option is not necessary. If the grade is not reflective of the score in which the report card is to have, simply use the Manual Override option and change it.

  11. Setting Categories Once you have edited/created a category, it is set. You never have to create the same category again.

  12. Editing Categories 1. To edit a category, click on the category name you wish to edit. 2. In the Edit Assignment Category window change the Nameand Abbreviationas needed. 3. Leave the Coloras currently set. 4. Change Points Possible to 100. Leave the extra points at 0, which is the default. 5. Select letter grade in the drop down menu beside Score Type. 6. Leave “Include in Final Grade” box checked, and then select OK.

  13. Entering Assignments • To enter an assignment, click on the assignments tab at the top of the screen. • Select the class you want to create an assignment for from your classes on the left. • Click on the +sign at the bottom of the screen.

  14. Scoring Assignments Once you have created and saved your assignments, return to the scoresheet page selecting the scoresheet icon at the top of the screen. You should now see the assignments that you created in your gradebook.

  15. Scoring Assignments Right click in the column where score is to be entered, highlight grades and select the appropriate score. Hit enter to move to the next student or tab to move to the next standard ( same student). SAVE!

  16. For Grade Reporting – Specials Report Cards Select Final Grades tab

  17. For Grade Reporting – Specials Report Cards Review the scores in the Final Grades column. If they are reflecting the score for the report card, proceed to the Grades Complete process. If not use the Manual Override option to change the score

  18. For Grade Reporting - Specials Right click inside the Final Grades column. Highlight Show Score Inspector Open Score Inspector Select Manual Override. Click on drop down arrow and select *, + or X

  19. For Grade Reporting - Specials Once the grade is entered for a student, and if that grade is what most students will receive for the course, right click again and select the Fill Scores option. Select Manual Override and the Grade. Click OK. This will automatically fill all the scores with that grade.

  20. Then simply double click on the few students that may be receiving a different grade and change the grade. Once grades are entered for the class, Click Save!

  21. The next step is VERY IMPORTANT and must be completed before reports can be run.

  22. GRADES COMPLETE This process must be done for EVERY class! Once grades are complete and ready for report cards at the end each quarter : 1. Click on the Q1 In Progress button found above the Final Grade column. 2. Check the Final Grades Complete box 3. Click OK 4. Be sure it changes to Q1 Grades Complete. This must be done at the end of each quarter, for EACH class so the system can properly pull grades and then print the report card.

  23. Preparing for Report Cards Note: The selecting Grades Complete process must be done for each class. Comments: If a specials teacher would like to add comments to the General Report Card comments section of the report card, they must give those comments to the student’s Homeroom teacher. The Homeroom teacher will enter the comments to appear on the report card.

  24. Backing up your gradebook At the end of each marking period, a report must be saved to back up the gradebook. This replaces turning in a gradebook at the end of each school year. The report to run is the Individual Student Report. This report lists marking period averages, assignments given throughout the quarter, all grades given and comments.

  25. 1. Click on Reports 2.Highlight ISR. Click arrow Note: by selecting the Layout tab (on any report) a signature line and additional comments can be added. 3. Set Date Range 4. Click Run

  26. Open the report by clicking on OK. Then SAVE (to the server) once it has opened. This must be completed for each class.

  28. Backing up your gradebook Another report that can be useful is the Final Grade and Comment Verification. This report will show the final grade given for the quarter.

  29. 1. Click on Reports 2.Highlight Final Grade and Comment Verification. Click arrow 3. Set Date Range 4. Click Run

  30. Open the report by clicking on OK. Then SAVE (to the server) once it has opened. This must be completed for each class.
