  2. The Shared African Worldview • Unity between spiritual and material aspects of existence • Centrality of religion • Harmony in nature and the universe • African society patterned after natural rhythms • Time as participation in events

Afrocentrism • Belief that the history, culture, and behavior of Blacks around the world is an extension of African history and culture. • An Afrocentrist might see a communication style (which emphasizes verbal ability) & strong involvement in churches and communities as coming from African culture.
