  3. The tasks performed by a shipping agent Planning • coordination ofships’arrivals / departures and pilotage • maintaining a formal schedule • providing relevant information • creating crew /passenger lists

  4. Shipping operations • shipping regulations of a particular port of call Communication • availability • contact for the crew and port authorities • mediation in concluding contracts of employment, sales and purchases • managerial skills
