Networking against povertyof children and parents In General it is accepted that networking for the different areas federation, country, local authority, social area is necessary and has to be extended. The target is to share responsability and to distribute it to severeal positions in order to receice more detailed information to develop the necessary measurements. The country accepts poverty of children and young people as being a cross-section topic in NRW but the transformation has not yet been effected completely. Examples for networking: • National Poverty Conference • Federal Consulting Committees • Round Table „Help for children in distress“ • Country based Poverty Conferences in the different local authorities • Communal networking against poverty of children-Project of Landschaftsverband Rheinland • to enable participation – WEB 2.0 opennetworx.org • Family centres • Prevention chains – Early help • Social room work – round table • Discussions for assistance and planning Caritas im Erzbistum Köln
Evaluation of networking • There are a lot of valuable rudiments • A lot of things are not structured and connected • A lot of projects are not supported financially when running out • People involved are often not comprised sufficiently. In almost all the cases networking of competent people for competent people and for people concerned. What is missing: people concerned, what can they tell us about their situation and the resources? • How to build networking nearby? • What kind of networking is available for children/the parents? • What kind of networking is necessary for children and parents in order to help them out of poverty and to improve their complete living situation? All those questions can be answered out of certain studies and projects but mostly the outcome is not applied consistently, so: there is a lot of work still to be done. Caritas im Erzbistum Köln
