4. Provide Access to Information Technology can provide a quick and easy way to access information. In mathematics, you may use technology to access lesson plans, find a new source to teach concepts or clarify what you should be teaching at your grade level.
5. Automating, Simplifying and Transforming Tasks As mathematics teachers, we can use technology to automate, simplify and transform tasks. An example of this would be using a graphing calculator to make a graph or an Excel spreadsheet to make calculations.
6. Representing Knowledge & Thinking As mathematics teachers a main part of our pedagogy includes use of manipulatives. Technology provides different types of manipulatives. For example, geometry software can be used to build and investigate geometric shapes.
7. Communicating & Collaborating with Peers and Experts Technology has opened up a whole new form of communication. As teachers, we can communicate with other teachers across the country. We can also have our students communicate with and learn from other students all over the world.
