University Library Learning Resource Centre (LRC) Project: Transition Folio to E Scope of the project: • Gain experience in handling E-Books • Acquisition • Cataloging • Availability • Cut down on photocopying activities • Introduction to Faculty of the E-book possibilities in all aspects • Gain commitment at Faculty level

  4. LRC Randwijck Health-Medicine-Life Sciences and Psychology • 6000 volumes • 1800 Titles • 60 publishers • 10 titles per publisher • 50 % Textbooks

  5. Current Book Acquisition Policy • Bookseller A Dutch publications (local) • Bookseller B Foreign publications • Ad hoc Incidental Materials

  6. Acquiring E-Books a challenge Folio world was clear • Budgets • Number of books • Conditions E-Book world is a relatively new field • Current booksellers not fully into STM E-books • Booksellers market not clear on: • Access policies • Archival functions (perpetual continuity) • Costs models
