RF/RFIDTechnology & Commercialization Forum Hosted by:
Company History • Pelican Technologies was founded in 2005 to develop hardware neutral RFID software for the logistics and security industries. • Our mission is to develop and provide excellent solutions that help to bind together disparate systems. • Early custom systems developed included an RFID guard tracking and video security implementation at Camp Lejeune. • In 2009, we commercialized the Pelican HawkEye system to tie Gunshot Location Systems with Urban Pan-Tilt-Zoom Camera networks.
Here’s What We Do • Pelican Technologies writes software – interacting with RFID and sensor systems, causing automated decisions to occur and as a result affecting other real world experiences. • Our software is Hardware Neutral: we can talk to any sensor that outputs, any compliant database and any external system that takes input. • The Pelican HawkEye system has been used to tie Gunshot Location to Urban Surveillance, RFID to Access Control, ALPR to Automated Gates, Motion Sensors to Lighting Controls and more.
This is Useful Because… • In the case of GLS tied to Urban PTZ, Pelican HawkEye increases conviction rates while decreasing prosecution costs. • In the case of RFID to Access Control, prevents theft/loss of tagged items (documents), thereby reducing operational risk. • HawkEye is built around standard communications protocols and a highly configurable GIS database for decision processes. First time systems integration effort is measured in hours not weeks. • Operational decision time (under load) measured at avg. 43ms • No other product available in the market can talk to the variety sensors and affect the variety of environments as quickly (to configure and to operate) as Pelican HawkEye
What We Need Going Forward Is… • Pelican Technologies needs increased exposure to sensor technology and the opportunity to prove Pelican HawkEye’s effectiveness in new environments and new situations. • Pelican Technologies needs help marketing, promoting and spreading the word about the Pelican HawkEye system and what benefits it brings to systems integration efforts. • Our software is running in municipal spaces and in industry, not yet at government facilities and installations.
Our Future Milestones Are: • In 2010 Pelican HawkEye was released in its first commercialized version. • We have begun designing the second version of Pelican HawkEye that will include fault-tolerant processing. • We expect that the new version will be complete at the end of Q3 2012 and the version cycle will repeat every 2 years. • Pelican Technologies is leveraging existing sales revenue to fund continued development and innovation. • Our goal is to obsolete ourselves repeatedly before others are able to do so, and advance our product as we do so.
