  5. Brenda Elliott NASA Middle School Aerospace Scholar I am a 6th grade Science teacher at AMS, the best middle school in Texas!! This will be my 25th year of teaching! I’ve been teaching 6th grade Science or Math in Granbury for 19 years. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends (some are other 6th grade teachers!), and my dachsand….Millie. I also love watching the Texas Tech RED RAIDERS! GUNS UP!! My favorite thing about teaching is seeing my students discover and learn things about the world around them. I love teaching at AMS -- you will love your new campus, too!!!

  17. REQUIRED classroom supplies to be brought to class EVERYDAY! • Pencils and Eraser • Colored Pencils • Please keep all in your school binder. Add a zipper pouch in which to keep your pencils and sharpen.

  19. Classroom Procedures Explain, Rehearse, Reinforce!

  20. Be in your assigned seat and working on the assigned warm up work after you have taken care of restroom needs. .

  21. Bring ALL materials to class and take them with you when you leave.

  22. Entering the Science Lab: • Please enter quietly. • Have a seat at your lab table. • Take out your materials. (pencil, etc.) • Look at the assignment agenda on your desk or whiteboard. • Begin warm up assignment.

  23. Follow directions the first time they are given.

  24. Treat each person in this room with respect and dignity. .

  25. WHINE FREE ZONE!! • This classroom is a “No Whining Zone”. That means that there will be no whining, for ANY reason. • Everything that I do is in your best interest, so please…respect the “No Whining Zone”.

  26. Severe Clause • Any student who uses profanity, fights, damages school property (this includes the property of the teacher and other students), or is disrespectful (as defined by the teacher) will be sent to the office IMMEDIATELY.

  27. Getting your attention I will: • Stand in front of the class. • Ask you for a PIRATE CLAP at the count of 1,2,3…….then you clap and all is quiet. • I will begin speaking/instructing.

  28. What Do I Do Next?Activities • Work on unfinished Journal or class assignments. Can they be improved?? • Review vocabulary words. • Assist your lab partner. • Read your “library” novel.

  29. After an Excused Absence • Go to the makeup folder and look for your name. • Copy the material into your journal if necessary. • Retrieve any handouts for your journal. • Sign the notebook showing that you received your work. • No make-up work for unexcused absences.

  30. Turning in Papers/Journals • Place your Science Journal at the top and in the center of the lab table. Leave your area neat and tidy. Place all supplies in their proper place. • Either I or a designated student will come by and collect the stacks you have created. • Listen for specific instructions for any additional directions.

  31. Classroom Discussions • RAISE your hand. PLEASE participate. • I want to hear what you have to say about our discussion. • Make all questions and comments relevant to the current discussion…stay on topic. • Listen to other students with courtesy and respect…..remember the GOLDEN RULE!!

  32. Please stay seated during class instructional time. Moving around the room while I am teaching is distracting to others….and to me as well!!

  33. Class Dismissal 1) Do not start packing up prior to my directions. 2) Push in your chair! Stand behind it and wait for directions. 3) I will dismisses you, not the clock. Again, make sure to PUSH IN YOUR CHAIR ….very important!
