  3. 1st view of Network • Peer to Peer Computing • BT (file sharing), Skype (Voice) • Multimedia applications • IPTV (PPlive, PPstream): Video over IP • Multi-hops Wireless Networks • Wireless Mesh Networks (Wifi, WiMax), VANET, DTN • Wireless Sensor Networks

  4. 2nd view of Network • Application • Streaming (video over diff. type of network) • Multimedia applications : music, video: search, sharing, and recommendation • Cloud computing (from view of networking) • Distributed platform (Network) • The characteristics of different networks (as a distributed platform): Internet, wireless network, sensor network, VANET, DTN • The Relationship Among Human, Application and Network • Human-centric vs. data-centric • QoS metric

  5. Why you want to study in Network area?

The Reasons are • Easy to start • Basic knowledge in prob., computer network, algorithm • Many new emerging technologies • WiFi, WiMAX, Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks, Cloud Computing • paper • Many new exciting applications • Google, Youtube, Facebook, Internet-push, location-based service • rich • Lots of challenging issues remained
