Emmanuel Baptist Church Youth Group 2011-2012 1 Corinthians 9:24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. Hebrews 12:1-2 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
My Philosophy for Youth Ministry The youth ministry of Emmanuel Baptist Church, through God’s grace and guidance, will seek to: Convert, Convict, and Correct all those who may come in contact with this ministry; including, teens, parents, and staff. So that, through their changed lives there may be a real impact on those in their immediate area and eventually on others throughout the world. This will be done for this purpose: that God may be glorified (1 Cor.10:31) and that they may Qualify when they see Christ (Ecc.12:13-14; 2 Tim 4:5-8; Matt 25:21, 23).
How is this accomplished??? • Teen Visitation • Personal Contact • Visiting Contacts • Refereeing Convert • Regular Preaching of God’s Word • Daily Devotions • Working of the Holy Spirit Convict • God’s Word • Daily Devotions • Parental assistance at home Correct
Why is this important??? 1 Corinthians 10:31 – Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. God will be Glorified by their life!! 2 Timothy 4:7-8 – I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day…. When they see Christ, they will Qualify!!
What is the Youth Ministry? Youth Ministry is not…. • A Babysitting Service • Responsible for rearing your child • Entertainment for your teens • Just the youth pastor/youth workers job • A punishment – do not hang youth group over your teens heads
What is the Youth Ministry? Youth Ministry is…. • A needed area of every teens life • A valuable assistance to you in rearing your teens – an extension of the home through the church • An outlet of fun and good times • A place to choose role models
What is the Youth Ministry? Youth Ministry is…. • A place to grow spiritually – gets them out of their comfort zone • A place to fail and succeed • A place of love • A safe haven from the world – for some this is the most important
