  2. Characteristics The Sahara Desert is covered by mountains, rocky areas, and salt flat dunes. Sometimes it does not rain for years. Many deserts are found in bands. Some deserts are located by mountains. The worlds largest desert is the Sahara desert which is in North Africa. The average temperature in the summer is 100 degrees ,and the average temperature in the winter is 45 degrees.

  3. Location The Sahara desert is in North Africa. There are 3,500,000 square miles and there is 9,065,000 square kilometers of desert land.

  4. Plant life • Deserts plants have to make the most of the small amounts of water available. • Sometimes they have occasional sudden downpours. • To survive they must withstand extreme temperatures and be able to live without a lot of water.

  5. Animal life • In the desert some of the animals that live there are Addax, Antelope ,Dorkizalle, Horned viper and so many more. • Some eat insects and other animals . • The cactus wren lives inside of a cactus.
