City Council Strategic Objective • “Implement an improved recycling program that expands recycling opportunities for all City residents, and explore adding recycling for commercial customers.” • 1 & 1 Weekly Refuse and Recycling Program • Implementation Date: October 2012
1 Day Trash/1 Day Recycling Pros: • Most economical option • Easiest collection schedule • Meets Strategic Objective • Increases recycling opportunities/participation • Trucks available for service four days per month • Completes the phased in approach to recycling • Provides the greatest diversion savings • Cons: • Initial learning curve and adjustment for customers • Perceived reduction of refuse services • One-time investment to provide additional recycling containers
