  1. January 10, 2013 The Mission Center Health and Welfare Benefits Plan

  2. The Mission Center • Founded in April 2010 • Dedicated to improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the nonprofit sector through administrative services • Accounting • HR • Insurance

  3. Background • First meeting with prospective members in Oct 2010 • Today, we have more than 70 member organizations representing more than 1,100 lives. • Modeled after a nonprofit consortium created by the United Way of Cincinnati more than 20 years ago

  4. How It Works Requirements: • Become a member of The Mission Center • Membership is free • Required to verify commonality - 501(c)3 orgs. • Change your broker • All members have to have The Mission Center and J.W. Terrill as their co-brokers in order for the carriers to recognize and rate us as a large group

  5. How It Works Ancillary: • For groups that offer ltd, std and life – immediate, guaranteed 10% savings on those lines for same or better coverage from Lincoln • For groups with 10 or more employees on dental – immediate guaranteed 5% savings for same or better coverage from Lincoln • Large group pricing from VSP for vision • All ancillary lines, including voluntary supplemental life, are available to all orgs.

  6. How It Works Major Medical: • First large group block renewal process starts this spring for July 1 renewal • All orgs that want to receive large group pricing options must be Mission Center members and co-brokered by TMC/JWT by January 30 • You join the large group with the coverage you have – then receive rates to compare • Long-term strategy for reducing the volatility for renewal

  7. Consortium Pricing + Autonomy • You still get to choose your deductible and other plan design elements, determine the percentage of employer/employee cost sharing, and be billed directly. • Each member org gets all the information needed to make informed decisions about coverage and cost. We believe that together we are stronger and better served than apart.
