  2. Occupation history • The primary function for an Airport Security Officer is passenger screening at the airport. Routine passenger screening operations require teams of six persons per operational unit (Inclusive of a Team Leader). • At each point the ASO is responsible for maintaining safety, working as part of a team and • managing the public. Rotations of positions are mandatory in order to relieve stress and • provide an opportunity for ASOs to maintain their attention to detail and composure. ASOs • are exposed to frequent conflict with the public and must maintain a preparedness to engage • in conflict negotiation. In addition to their primary duties, ASOs must be prepared for tasking • on secondary duties.

  3. Training and education requirements • Airport security officers are required to have a high school diploma or GED certificate. In most cases, a formal education is not required but may be preferred. Many employers ask for one or more years of security experience. Like most security positions , airport security officers must be physically fit and mentally stable. They must be able to pass drug screening and comprehensive background tests prior to employment. Most employers provide training for officers. From classroom training to on the job training.
