The Nile Valley refers only to the fertile land in even though white Nile is in the Sudan. This is because the main part of the Nile and the valley is in Egypt.

  4. Why did Britain Colonise Africa? Who do you agree with? John Gallagher 1919-1980 and Ronald Robinson 1920-1999. They both said that the colonisation of Africa said that trading power, political influence, informal imperialism and a combination of events in the metropole and periphery caused the colonisation of Africa. It wasn’t all directed from the metropole to make money. JA Hobson. 1858-1940 Believed that the colonisation of Africa was from Britain industrialising and wishing to dominate Africa for economic reasons. He attributes colonisation to have been directed from the metropole. Marxists and Marxist historians use his work a lot to criticise imperialism and capitalism.
