  3. Math Curriculum • Ratios and Proportional Relationships • The Number System (positive, negative, GCF, LCM, prime factorization) • Expressions and Equations • Geometry (area, volume) • Statistics and Probability (median, range, mean) Standards are unpacked, taught and then reinforced • Essential Questions • White boards • Small group instruction • Partner/Group discussion • Spiral Review • Assessments • Grade First Aide • Daily Extra Credit

  4. Math Extra Credit • Log on to https://connected.mcgraw-hill.com • Find what lesson you are on 3.1 Add and Subtract Decimals etc. • 2. Click on Resources • 3. Click on the check mark • 4. Take the Quiz • 5. Attach ALL of your work to the extra credit and turn it in. Its that easy. :) • 6. If you email, don't attach your work, or you don't have your name on your paper, no extra credit will be given. :(

Earth Science Curriculum • Resources (energy) • Structure (plate tectonics, earthquakes, etc.) • Surface (weathering, erosion, groundwater, etc.) • Oceans and Atmosphere Standards are investigated and reinforced • Directed Reading • Cooperative Groups • STEM Activities and Labs • Assessments • Quizzes after each lesson (Open Book) • Study Guides / Chapter Tests

  6. 6th Grade Science Camp • Date: April 2-4, 2018 • Camp cost $275 (payments throughout the year can be made toward camp) • Our sixth grade students have a great opportunity to attend science camp. • Pali Mountain Science Camp is in Running Springs, California. • Teachers attend camp with students and administrators visit each day. • Parent Meeting: TBA

  7. Weekly Communication • Thursday Folders • All graded items will be sent home each Thursday • Students must complete the chart with their current grades and number of missing assignments • Parents must sign • Due on Friday

  8. Attendance/Absent Work • Regular attendance and timeliness is critical. • Call the office to notify us it you can pick up absent work. • Check our websites • Students are responsible for making up all work. • Work is due back the following Friday after the week the child was absent. • If work is never turned in, it will be a missing assignment. • Absent work must be turned in to the white box with “AB” written on the top near the heading.

  9. Missing Assignments • Late/missing assignments will be accepted the first trimester only for 70% credit. • Missing assignments are always due the following Monday in the black basket. • If missing assignments are not turned in the grade will go into the grade book as zero percent. This will lower your child’s grade tremendously!

P.A.C.K Classes(Personally Achieving Character & Knowledge) • Students grouped by assessment data into leveled math and language arts classes • Students will be regrouped after every District Benchmark • Tuesday-Friday: Language Arts/ Math enrichment, intervention, and enhancement. • Monday: Character Education Wonder

Supplies (See the Green sheet in your packet) • Three ring binder with dividers for Math & Science • Red pens for correcting • Crayons/colored pencils • Sharpened pencils • Dry erase markers • \White Sock • Loose notebook paper (tear out spiral paper makes a mess) • 3x5 index cards (3 packs) • Heavy weight protective Sleeves • Highlighters • Calculator (not a cell phone calculator)
