The Role of MW SIT under the NYS Reform Agenda December 5, 2011 Merton Williams School Improvement Team Meeting
Regional Network Teams • Responsible for implementation of NYS Reform Agenda in districts within each BOCES Region. • This includes: • Establishment of Network Teams in each component district. • Required initial trainings for district network teams, administrators, and teachers. • Resources and PD for on-going implementation in component districts.
District Network Team • Responsible for implementation of NYS Reform Agenda in Hilton CSD • Members: Barb Surash MarijoPearson (ASI – M2Boces) Michelle Ryan(MAARS Director)
NYS Reform Agenda • Teacher/Principal APPR Evaluation System • Common Core Learning Standards 3. Data Driven Instructional Practice
Why All Three at ONE TIME? • APPR- 40% of all evaluations will be based on assessment data. Rubric to evaluate other 60% is based on data. • CCS – Data used to analyze student performance and align standards to classroom instruction. • DDI – Use of formative and summative assessments, samples of student work, demographic and qualitative data.
What do all 3 have in common? DATA IS THE GLUE That holds them together.
Collaborative Inquiry Teams • As part of the implementation process. Each school must have a CIT whose purpose to examine school-wide data systems and use data appropriately. Hilton’s Network Team has decided that each building’s SIT will fulfill this role rather that forming another team.
