  10. The runaway childrenChapter 1A big surprise Do you ever feel lonely? Even though you have a little brother or sister. Have you ever felt like you are your own mother? Well I have. Benny is my brother. He has short brown hair, and a big gaping mouth. One day Benny and I were walking home from school. We stood in front of the flat and noticed that our windows were open. Usually mum only opens them if someone was in the house. Especially Gran, she needs a lot of fresh air. Benny and I raced up to the lift. Poor little Benny was panting by the time we got there. Benny and I heard two voices. A lady that sounded like mum and a man that sounded a bit like dad. That was when we knew that it was not Gran. We ran away from dad and now we have been living without him for three years now. As soon as we entered we saw a man sitting beside mum. He didn’t look like dad. HE looked like a bachelor. That is the type of man that mum would like. Any woman would like him. Mum was all dressed up. She wore her black top that shows her belly and her lovely white jeans. The shirt and the jeans looked really good with mums long curly hair and all of her makeup. “Hello kids, how was your day today?” Mum said sweetly. “Why don’t you go have a shower so that we can go out to a restaurant for dinner, eh?”Mumintroduced us to her collage boyfriend called David. Me and Benny went to have a shower and a change of clothes. We can’t go out in our school uniform. Can we? I dressed Benny up in some jeans like mum, a white T-shirt and his black leather jacket on top. Benny didn’t let me brush his hair because he wanted it to stick up. I dressed up in my lovely pink gown made out of Thai silk and Thai flowers on the rim of the dress. I wanted to look special so I put makeup on. When me and Benny got out of our room mum was so mad at me for putting makeup on myself. She got over it. Then me, mum, Benny and David set of for our dinner. We ate at the best and most expensive Italian restaurant in England. Mum had a delicious Italian salad and I had the best Pizza In the entire country. Benny didn’t want to eat salad; he wanted my large sized ham and extra cheese pizza. David had spaghetti bolognaise. I and Benny were watching mum make googly eyes at David.
