Objectives: • Deepen knowledge of achievement data for schooling. • Recognize stereotypes that pervade American society, and the impact they have on students’ concepts of self and self-esteem. • Problem Solve: Why do students have different achievement scores? (Speaking/Listening/Reading/Writing) • Research achievement data for a specific school and consider what that data tells you about what students need. (Reading, Writing, Analysis) Content Language

“Small Group Problem Solving” • Step 1: Form groups of 3 or 4. • Step 2: In your group, come up with one “problem” you noticed in the readings. • Step 3: As a group, discuss the problem, research what might be a cause and what the problem might mean for you as a teacher. • Step 4: Prepare to present your “problem” and your findings with the class.
