  3. How do the Parts of a Cell Work: Nucleus • Nucleus • control center of the cell • Directs cell functions • Chromatin • Long uncoiled strands of DNA • Nucleolus • Inside the nucleus • Makes ribosomes

Notice that all of the parts of the cell pictured have outer membranes. • What function does the outer membrane serve? Write your answer in sentence form in the blank space on pg. 15 above the animal cell sketch.
