  4. Program Philosophy VISION: • The Redhawk football program is a family that develops men of love and excellence who serve others, lead, and compete for the glory of God. MISSION: • To compete for Christ and make playing football at Minnehaha Academy one of the most incredible experiences of our players’ lives.

How Do We Define Success? • “Success is the peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to become the best of which you are capable.” – John Wooden • Success is a by-product of doing things right and hard • We want playing football at MA to be a cause our players give themselves to - preparing them for 20 years from now – What kind of husbands, fathers, and leaders have our players become?

Formula for Success on Fridays • Build relationships – relationships are the foundation of our team • Control the BALL – Control it, protect it, and take it away • Execute – Know your role, do your job, and do it wellwhile limiting unforced errors and penalties • Play Great Defense – Stop the run, play fast, pursue the football, tackle, and create turnovers • Multi-Dimensional Offense – Run and pass the ball with consistency • Win Special Teams – Create field position, create momentum, score points, and create turnovers • Develop multi-sport athletes

  11. Concussions • Game is safer than it has ever been – why? Awareness is the key. • Less concussions in football than other sports at MA • We follow a concussion protocol for all athletes • For high school athletes – Full-time trainer and baseline testing before the start of the season. • Limited contact

  12. Football Summer Programming • Summer Athletic Development • June 9th-12th Padded Mini-Camp • Monday Night 7 on 7 in June and July

Goals for the Summer • Build relationships – Relationships are the foundation of our football team • Develop speed and strength through Athletic Development • Install the framework of our offense and defense in the June 9th-12th mini-camp • Develop skills, teamwork, and football execution through 7 on 7 • Develop multi-sport athletes

  14. Summer Athletic Development • June 2nd- July 31st • Monday – Thursday 9:00am-12:00pm • Led by Coaches Ross and Scholl • Focus on speed, strength, and spiritual development • $80 – Scholarships are available • Roger Ross Overview

  15. June 9th – 12th Mini-Camp • 9:00am-1:00pm – Monday-Thursday • Padded mini-camp - $20 • For middle school and high school players • Have fun and come together as a team • Work fundamentals and install the framework of our offense and defense

Monday Night 7 on 7 League • At Minnehaha Academy – South Campus • No cost • June 16, 23 and July 7, 14, 21, and 28 • 6:00pm-8:00pm • Primarily for High school players • Ball Guys – QB’s, RB’s, WR’s, LB’s and DB’s • We will play St. Paul Central, Como Park, Johnson, Minneapolis Southwest, and SPA

  17. Middle School vs. High School • Summer programs are open to middle school player but not required: • AD is for all students 7th-12th • June Mini-Camp all players 7th-12th • 7 on 7 is for primarily for 9th-12th(some 8th graders will play) • Fall start time • Retreat – HS only

Fall Season Important Dates:High School • Aug. 8 – Friday – Equipment Handout • Aug. 10 – Sunday – 5:00pm Football Potluck • Aug. 11 – Monday – First Day of Practice • Aug. 15-17 – Friday-Sunday – FB Retreat • Aug. 23 – Saturday – Scrimmage at Rockford • Aug. 28 – Thursday – First Game New Life • Sept. 1 – Monday – Labor Day Evening Practice

  22. Fall Season Important Dates:Middle School • Middle School Summer Football Camp Aug. 4 – 8 (register with MA Summer Programs) • Equipment Handout – Aug. 20th – Wed. • First Day of Practice – Aug. 21st – Thur. after first day of school.

Ways You Can Support the Program • Join the booster club • Volunteer for concessions • Donate financially – Full-time strength coach, new uniforms, Hudl, etc. • Help us purchase and meet our short and long term needs/wish list. • Tell others about what we are doing! The more players we have the better.
