Leucadia 2008 AGM Summary • Hand-out – transcript of AGM Q & A • Since the presentation in March 27, 2008, the stock has unfortunately increased in price by 20%. • Several newer investments: • A word on buying stocks: If you are a net buyer of shares, you should get excited about falling prices and be disappointed by increasing prices (temporary paper gains are unimportant in relation to a low cost basis, would you give up 1 year of an “ugly” looking account statement in exchange for a very nice statement in 5 years?) • A word on selling: Unless a mistake has been made, never sell a good investment (except in small bits for your personal expenses). Fortunes have often been lost in selling a good business in exchange for relatively trivial medium-term gain. Real wealth is created when a good investment is held a very long time so that compound interest can work its magic. Be tenacious & focused, sticking with a good investment through both good and bad times, as you would in your own personal business.
