    2. Model 1 – CMMI Level 1 - Initial Level 2 - Repeatable Level 3 - Defined Level 4 - Managed Level 5 - Optimizing Initial (chaotic, ad hoc, heroic) the starting point for use of a new process. Repeatable (project management, process discipline) the process is used repeatedly. Defined (institutionalized) the process is defined/confirmed as a standard business process. Managed (quantified) process management and measurement takes place. Optimizing (process improvement) process management includes deliberate process optimization/improvement.
