  2. “QualiTraining 2” (2008 – 2009) Follow-up to the ECML projects: • QualiTraining – A Training Guide for Quality Assurance in Language Education (2004-2007), finalised with a book and CD ROM (EN & DE), • Quality Management in Language Education (2000-2003), finalised with a CD ROM (EN & FR) Project Teams / Authors: • Frank Heyworth, Galya Mateva, Maria Matheidesz, • Laura Muresan (co-ordinator), Mary Rose

  3. Main Goal: • working towards consolidating aquality assurance culture in language education across Europe and beyond

  4. consistency involving the grassroots level processes & products

How? • Experiencing the “QualiTraining” approach – reflecting on our own context (as participants) • Reflecting on methodological aspects – e.g. why these activities? • Reflecting on and discussing what could be of interest, what would work in our own context (as leaders, trainers, facilitators…)

  6. Questions for reflection: How to… • achieve consistency of approach in language education in an institutional context? • involve teachers and students (who do not have ‘formal’ managerial responsibilities) in quality assurance processes? • cater for differences of experience, needs, interests, differences in ‘cultural’ expectations, etc. ?

QualiTraining Guide: Methodological Approach • alternating questions for reflection with input, incl. glossing of concepts, where necessary • flexibility in terms of sequencing and activity types • illustrating principles through case studiesand additional resources (on the CD Rom and the project web site)

  9. Drawing on the experience of language professionals and QM experts - regional and international workshops, expert & network meetings at the ECML in Graz, Austria

  10. Case studies in the QualiTraining Guide: for analysis and reflection on own context • Summary of case study • Description of context • What we needed to do and why we did it • Main purpose (what we wanted to achieve) • Action taken (stages and procedures) • Main outcomes • Main conclusions
