15. 25 Year Long Range Transportation Plan- LRTP • All major surface transportation projects requiring federal funding assistance, must be derived from this plan. • The Long Range Transportation Plan outlines the transportation projects within the Mobile MPO study area that need to be completed to fulfill the projected transportation demands by the 25 year forecast date. • The projects on the plan are balanced against projected revenue over the next 25 years. The plan only includes projects with identified funding.

25. 5 Year Short Range Plan: Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) • To be on 5 year plan (TIP), project has to be derived from LRTP • Must be voted on by the TCC/CAC and by the MPO, which requires public comment period • All Federally Funded transportation projects must be included in TIP- funds are 80/20 (TIP includes all funding categories) • It is up to the Project Sponsor to request the project be entered into the TIP Implementation • Implementation timeline (PE, ROW,UT,CN) is determined by sponsor / ALDOT (funds available). Numerous public involvement meetings required.
