To Welcome Knowledge sharing Program Jointly Presented by RezaulKarim Programmer, BBS & Mohammad AnamulHaque Maintenance Engineer, BBS
Team Members: The Team members are as follows: Mr Md. Matiar Rahman, Deputy Secretary, SID; Mr Jatan Kumar Saha, Systems Analyst, BBS & Project Director, DIS Project; Mr Kabir Uddin Ahmed, Deputy Director, BBS; Mr S. M Ahasan Kabir, Programmer, BBS; Mr Rezaul Karim, Programmer, BBS, and Mr Mohammad Anamul Haque, Maintenance Engineer, BBS
Mission & Vision: • Mission: • To learn Data Dissemination system of ABS, Australia & Dept. of Statistics, Malaysia through web enabled GIS. • Vision: • To Disseminate Census & survey data through web enabled GIS under Digital Information System Project (DIS)
Database Development: • Central Database System (Data Center) with Backup & Disaster Recovery site; • Capturing, preparing & processing system is de-centralized; • Unique coding system; • Geographical Identification system (GEO Coding system) is unique for all census & surveys; • Historical/Time series data are preserved & maintained
Data Dissemination through GIS: • They disseminate their census & survey results through GIS because all census/surveys are conducted using Digital Maps; • They can prepare comparative results of different census/surveys by using GIS because unique GEO file is used in all census/survey; • They can forecast how many people/establishments, etc. are effected by flood/natural calamities by using GIS; • All publications are digital (a limited copies are printed like as book to preserved in the libraries). As a result a huge cost is saved which was allocated for printing purpose.
Data Dissemination through GIS: (Continue..) Total Population(2011): 149772364 Male : 74980386 Female : 74791978 Total HH : 32173630 Growth Rate : 1.37 Pop. Density : 1015 GIS of Australia GIS of Malaysia
Networking Infrastructure: • All offices are under LAN & WAN; • All applications are web enabled; • Maintenance support is given through outsourcing;
GEO coding System: • Unique GEO Identification System (Like our GEO coding system but upgraded & relational model) is used; • They have fix enumeration block (like our EA). • For Malaysia: EB consists of 80-120 living quarters or 500-600 persons; • For Australia: Mesh Block are same as Malaysia Sample GEO code of Malaysia
Limitations of BBS: • GEO coding system is not modernized; • Spatial database is not standardized; • Enumeration Areas (EAs) are not fixed for all census/surveys; • Historical records are not reflected in GEO database;
Recommendations: • BBS should create a modern GEO coding system; • Need to standardize Spatial database; • It is necessary to fix all the enumeration Areas (EAs) for all census & surveys; • It is necessary to preserve Historical records of GEO database.
Actions taken: • An initiative has been taken for creating a modern GEO coding system; • A form is filled-up by DIS project for standardizing Spatial database and send it to UNSC;
