Topic #1: Understanding the PM Process • How is the Timber Mark determined? • All PMs are registered through The Office of the Registrar of Timber Marks • Determines if a PM Certificate will be issued A Timber Mark is a unique series of letters and/or numbers 2.12
Topic #1: Understanding the PM Process • Who Issues the PM? • MoFR staff at the district and headquarters level work together to issue the PM • The process begins when the client forwards the FS 361 – Application for a Private Timber Mark & required documentation • A client can apply for a PM if registered with Land Title Office as: • Registered owner of timber • Owner of the land in fee simple • Having an agreement to purchase (LTO) 2.13

Topic #3: Issue a Private Mark • Printing the Certificate – Status Change • Status changes to “Certificate Issued (HI)” • Duplicate copies can be printed from the Mark Application page • The status of the PM will NOT change if you only print the certificate from the Mark Application Page Status = HN “Issued but not Printed” Status = HI “Certificate Issued” 2.35

Topic #4: Request a PM Amendment • Request an Amendment • Amendments are useful if PM requires modification • Any addition/deletion to certificate is an amendment unless it is an extension • For example: • Altering geographic area of PM • Change in clients of PM • Amendments can only occur when PM has a status = HI 2.40

Topic #4: Request a PM Amendment • Request an Extension • Used if the timeline for the PM needs to be extended • A new application must be completed by client(s) and faxed/mailed to Registrar of Timber Marks • Usually extended within 3 business days • District may enter FTA, verify extended date & print new certificate for client(s) • Note: An extension can be asked for at the same time as an amendment but is not a normal part of the amendment process 2.42
