History The Mathematics: Modeling Our World project was led by: • Solomon Garfunkel, COMAP, Inc., Lexington, MA • Landy Godbold, The Westminster Schools, Atlanta, GA; • Henry Pollak, Teachers College, Columbia University, NY, NY COMAP wanted to make a curriculum that encompassed the NCTM Standards.

  3. Philosophy “Not everyone will become a mathematician, but everyone needs to understand and apply mathematics in real life.” “Mathematics: Modeling Our World is founded on the principle that mathematics is a necessary tool for understanding the physical and social worlds in which we live.”
