Science/Social Studies • Standards on Arizona Department of Education and HUSD Website • Galileo—Science Quarterly Assessments • Some group work • Daily writing response (Quick Writes) in composition notebooks to start our discussion • Other than periodic projects, homework is finishing/reviewing class work and studying for tests • Textbooks— • Science—McMillan-McGraw Hill • Social Studies—Harcourt Horizons
Supplies • Main Necessary Supplies for all classes: • Binder with subject dividers • Loose-leaf paper • Writing Spiral Notebook (may need multiple) • Social Studies and Science composition books • #2 pencils (no mechanical please) • Grading Pen (Red, Purple, Green, etc.) • Agenda—provided by the school
Additional Helpful Supplies Colored Pencils, Crayons, or Markers (no sharpies please) Glue Stick, small scissors Small Dictionary/Thesaurus Flash Drive Teachers do not pick up supplies—please keep extra supplies at home Classroom donations are appreciated
Class Assignments • “Homework” is primarily unfinished class work. • Check Agenda to see that students are copying assignments daily and initial once a week. • Those who use class time wisely should not have much homework, but all students should review assignments nightly. • Other home activities: AR Reading, Kids College, Galileo Dialogues.

Grades/Missing Assignments Please check HUSD website for link to Synergy online grade book. Check grades weekly and email questions to teacher as needed. We try to update at least once a week. Students who are missing assignments may miss lunch recess to catch up. They will need time at home as well. Work that is not turned in will received a ZERO. Points can be deducted on work that is late.

From the Nurse • We are a “drug freeschool” • No student should bring any medication or drugs to school, including throat lozenges, cough drops, inhalers, or Tylenol. Parents must sign in all medication at the nurse’s office. • Students with temperature of 100 or more, diarrhea, vomiting, chicken pox, head lice or unknown rash will be sent home. • Band Aid donations are appreciated • There is a dress code at Power Ranch. Please check the HUSD Code of Conduct on HUSD webpage.
PTO • Entertainment Books/Money due 8/28 • Facebook—“like” Power Ranch PTO • Visit the PTO website—there is a link from the Power Ranch site • There will be a table in the cafeteria where parents can get more information and purchase t-shirts
