  1. the power of surrender

  2. Do you want to be totally at peace with God? Do you want a life of absolute surrender to God? Does such a thing seem possible?

  3. Memory Text “For it is ___ that ______ in you, both to ___ and __ of His good _______.” Philippians 2:13 God worketh will do pleasure

  4. God’s Promise • Mark 10:27 • Titus 2:11 • 1 Peter 1:5 • 1 Corinthians 3:16 With God it is possible. He will work in us to make it possible: Though his grace, or kindness. By the power of God. By the Holy Spirit.

  5. only communion God is the fountain of life, and we can have life only as we are in communion with Him. Separated from God, existence may be ours for a little time, but we do not possess life. . . . Only through the surrender of our will to God is it possible for Him to impart life to us. Only by receiving His life through self-surrender is it possible, said Jesus, for these hidden sins . . . to be overcome. It is possible that you may bury them in your hearts and conceal them from human eyes, but how will you stand in God's presence?. . . To sin, wherever found, God is a consuming fire. . . . {RC 377.4} surrender

  6. Devine Blessing Men have not , nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye , . . . what God hath for him, for those who for him.Isaiah 64:4 heard seen prepared wait

  7. Total Surrender Surrender is more then just yielding our will to God. This is important, but its only half of what it means to surrender. What else do we need to do? We nee to let God work in our lives, to carry out his will for us. Then God can work in us both to will and to do His good pleasure.

  8. Why does God require total surrender? • God will accept nothing less than unreserved surrender. Halfhearted, sinful, professing Christians would spoil heaven, were they permitted to enter. They would stir up a second rebellion there. Those who know the truth, yet do not exalt the Author of truth, will never enter the City of God. Heaven would be purgatory to them, because they know nothing of the high, holy principles that govern the members of the royal family above. {UL 197.2}

  9. There must be heartfelt surrender of our will to God; we must renounce all our own supposed merits, and look to the cross of Calvary. This surrender to God involves effort on the part of the human agent to cooperate with the divine agencies; the branch must abide in the vine. . . . {2SM 212.2}

  10. Imagine the Wonder of it! “The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth” want to work His power in YOU! Isaiah 40:28-30

  11. God’s Grace Self-will Self-confidence Self –seeking

  12. The selfish heart must go before we can be useful to God. Confess to God: Ask Him: • Your self-will, • Your self-confidence, • Your self-seeking. • Help deny self every moment, • Invite Jesus to come in and take • control of your heart, • To separate you from this world.

  13. Jesus gave up his life for YOU. The least we can do, is to totally surrender our will to him!
