  2. Question: How long have they (China) been communist? • The Communist Party of China (CPC) was founded on July 1, 1921 in Shanghai, China. After 28 years of struggle, the CPC finally won victory of "new-democratic revolution" and founded the People's Republic of China in 1949. The CPC is the ruling party of mainland China (P.R. China).

  8. Trade in China and Beyond • Trade and agriculture made China richer than ever • Traders used rivers to ship goods within China • Especially the Grand Canal • Construction began under the Sui • Improved and expanded under the Tang

  12. Artists and Poets • Artists & writers of the Tang Dynasty were some of China’s greatest • Wu Daozi (DOW-tzee) painted murals • Li Bo and Du Fu wrote poetry • Li Qingzhao (ching-Zhow) considered China’s greatest female poet
