Background • Every storm drain is a part of an entire underground drainage network • Most drains lead to some sort of body of water • Creek, river, ocean, etc • Many pollutants are swept away into vital sources of water such as: • Bacteria • Sediment • Metals • Oil/ Grease • Pesticides • Trash/Debris • Chemicals
What we did • Cleaned up trash and debris around each drain • Used provided stencils to Spray paint “No Dumping Drains to River”
Supplies • Stencils: No Dumping Drains to River • Spray Paint • Trash Bags • Dust pans and brooms
Areas we Covered • 13th and 14th St. N. at the corners of 12th, 11thand 10th Ave. N. • 5th Ave. S. in downtown along the Mississippi River off of 5th and 6th Ave. N at the corners of 2nd, 3rdand 4th St. N. • 13th and 14th St. S. near the Husky Stadium
Our Objectives • Spread awareness • Teach others about the importance of keeping our drains clean • Reminding our community to be more conscientious about properly disposing waste
