The Technology Policies We Need Now Brittany Meek Rush County Schools
The Internet & Your Student “Use of the Internet within Rush County Schools must be in support of education and research and be consistent with the educational objectives of the corporation.”
A Supplement “Internet access is seen as a supplement to traditional print and non-print sources.”
The Ugly Side of Technology The biggest technology concern of most parents is the safety of their students while on the internet. Rush County Schools is helping to keep your student safe.
Teacher’s Are Responsible, Too “Internet communications between individuals are not considered to be private and even though every effort is made to ensure their security, the user should be aware that Internet security is tenuous at best and that network system operators are required to report to the proper legal authorities any illegal activities.”
What should the parents do? “Parents should be aware that some material accessible via the Internet may contain items that are illegal, defamatory, inaccurate, or potentially offensive to some people. In addition, it is possible to purchase certain goods and services via the internet which could result in unwanted financial obligations for which a student’s parent or guardian would be liable.”
If All Goes Wrong “The use of Internet is a privilege, not a right; inappropriate use may result in termination of the privilege.”
