MLRA D25 Creating an Interstate Ecological Site Legend
Objectives • Compare ESD legends of 4 states sharing the MLRA (ID, NV, OR, UT) • Look for similarities in site concepts (soils and vegetation)
Objectives • Reach consensus on naming and numbering conventions • Reviewed the use of Utah’s naming conventions • Nevada “owns” MLRA D25 so all numbers will end in NV
Objectives • Combine sites where practical and feasible • Held field trips in NV and UT to look at similar sites • Analyze site info among the 4 states
Objectives • Develop a MLRA legend for interstate use • Track necessary changes in NASIS • Names, numbers, MUID correlations, etc.
Accomplishments • West Region Grazinglands Consortium meeting in Reno, NV December 2004 • Adopted standard procedures similar to Northern great Plains (A1-3) • Made “ownership” assignments for MLRAs in CA, OR, WA, ID, NV,UT
Accomplishments • Field visit (Elko, NV) July 2005 • SRMS’ from ID, NV, OR, UT & WNTSC • Determined that there were only two Black Sage sites in the MLRA (there were five among the 4 states previously)
Accomplishments • Began loading ecological sites into ESIS • Download Access tables for data analysis
