Reminders… • 25 hours per semester • 3 requirements/events (one fundraising, one special projects, one your choice!) • Meetings ARE required • Log-in when you are at the hospital is YOUR responsibility • Do NOT email Jodie about outside hours • FB group and the website (cpals.web.unc.edu)

Staff Breakfasts • 3 breakfasts: February 5th, March 5th, April 9th • We are expecting everyone to contribute to at least one of the breakfasts by baking/buying a breakfast item – drop off day before to Emily in the union • You will receive 1 hr of credit • Sign-up after meeting
Fundraising • Thanks to all those who worked the Georgia Tech Game • There are only two games left - 2/5 game -only 3 spots open - 2/23 game- only 2 spots open • T-shirt sign-ups will be made into a google form • Benefit night at Qdoba sometime after spring break
Special Projects • Pink Pacers Flipping for the Kids February 2nd 3:30 pm at Carmichael Arena Bring your pal! • Valentines in the Clinic February 12-14 Sign up on google doc • Relay For Life! • Thanks to Courtney O’Connor for being our team captain and thanks to everyone who has signed up • If you haven’t signed up please do so- link in email • Making invitations for pals and families after next meeting • Theme: BIRTHDAY!
1:1s • New 1:1s will be assigned in February • New application is on the website • If you don’t get updates, please let me know so I can add you to the email group! (This is VERY important) • Getting a 1:1… • Email Kelsey with any questions before February 4th (gustaves@live.unc.edu)

We do NOT want to lose anyone this semester. Reminder: 3 required events!!!

Infection Control Precautions:What to Do • Okay to enter: • Protective Precautions • Contact Precautions (with gown,gloves) • Enteric Precautions (gown, gloves, wash with soap & water) • DO NOT ENTER: • Droplet Precautions *email Jenni regarding possible exception for 1:1 pals • Airborne Precautions
Protective Precautions • Designed to protect immunosuppressed patients • Wash hands before entering room • (Standard precautions for all our patients) • Patients must wear mask when leaving room, must have private playroom times
Contact Precautions • Wear gown and gloves BEFORE entering room • Remove gown and gloves before leaving, and wash or foam hands before leaving • Borrowed toys/resources must have hard surfaces that can be sanitized • Patients with multidrug resistant organisms, lice, scabies, etc. • Patients must wear gown/gloves when leaving room, must have private playroom times
Enteric Precautions • Wear gown and gloves BEFORE entering room • Remove gown and gloves before leaving, and wash with soap and water • Borrowed toys/resources must have hard surfaces that can be sanitized • Patients with c.diff, norovirus, rotavirus, etc. • Patients may not leave room
Droplet Precautions • DO NOT ENTER • Email or call Jenni if your 1:1 pal is on Droplet Precautions • Patients with infections transmitted by large particle droplets within 3 feet of patients (ex. Flu) • Requires special training and regular surgical masks • Patients may not leave room
Airborne Precautions • DO NOT ENTER • (Trained staff enter with an N-95 respirator mask) • Patients with known or suspected infections transmitted by small droplet nuclei such as tuberculosis, chickenpox, shingles • Patients may not leave room
