  2. 1880-1890 Dresses are corseted with long boned bodices. Skirts were layered and draped. A lot of pleading and an apron front.

  3. 1890-1900 Sleeves grow and balloon out to unprecedented sizes. Silhouette is slimmed and elongated. Full front bodices with high boned collars.

  4. 1900-1910 Evening dresses were worn off the shoulder or possibly even sleeveless. Waists were dropped and boned bodices were no longer used. Fewer undergarments were worn and dresses became simpler.

  5. 1910-1920 Skirt hem rose to the ankle. Boning in the bodices was starting to be used more as support to the silhouette than to change it. Walking suits were much more practical, made with preferred, easy to wash fabrics.
