  1. SAVING THE FORESTS Saving Our Human Race

  2. Solution - Corruption We believe that corruption is one of the most challenging and important to solve. However, without this vital issue being solved, the other issues cannot be solved. Indonesia has a CPI ranking of 2.8 in a scale of 0-10,( 0 being very corrupt and 10 being least corrupt). To solve this problem of corruption, the Indonesian government will sign an compulsory treaty in which anti-corruption officers from Singapore, Denmark, New Zealand and many other countries will form a team, headed by the IGEC, to demolish the roots of corruption. They will examine the practices of the government only regarding the matter about the forests in Indonesia and the aid being sent to them.

  3. Solutions - Security Our solution is to import unemployed foreign workers/ local workers to protected areas. Fund-raising campaigns and grants from other developed countries will aid effort of employing workers to guard and protect affected and protected areas. That way, we can keep the Orangutans safe. We will also have hidden CCTV cameras and rangers to patrol the forested areas. The imported workers will be given high pay which will ensure that they do not take bribes and at the same time do their work properly. Vital Orangutan habitats will also be fenced.

  4. Solutions – Logging, Demand For Wood Our Solution is to add on to existing structures allocated for agricultural purposes like farmland. The crops can be grown in separate “containers” and then, the trees can be harvested. This way, the locals who are allocated this farmland structure to grow their crops, can get income by selling those crops or they can consume crops. We can also have the government paying villagers an agreed small sum of money until their crops are mature enough to be harvested to earn them a steady source of income. This way, they can earn income as well as gather food instead of burning the forest down.

  6. Solutions – Education

  7. Solutions-Demand for Palm Oil Our Solution is to remove the demand for palm oil as it is not a good bio-fuel either! Instead, other green bio-fuels can be harvested such as Bio-gas and Switch-grass. Less land space is needed to harvest and produce these bio-fuels. Furthermore, they are cleaner, cheaper, and faster to cultivate. Furthermore, we will have campaigns to encourage people around the world to decrease their usage of Palm-oil. We will use mediums such as Facebook, Twitter, You-tube, newspapers, online forums and television. We will also create a “palm-oil free” logo which will be printed on products world-wide. This will decrease the demand for palm-oil.
