    2. Public Transit Fast Facts In 2007, Americans took 10.7 billion trips on public transportation - the highest ridership level in 52 years. Households with two workers and one car who use public transportation save as much as $8,000 every year, compared to a household with no access to public transportation. According to a new study prepared by ICF International, public transportation reduces our nation’s carbon emissions by 37 million metric tons annually – equivalent to the electricity used by 4.9 million households.

Service in the Greater Bakersfield Area GET’s Fleet includes: 81 fixed route CNG buses (All agencies in California required to purchase environmentally favorable vehicles) GET serves 19 routes M – F & 11 routes on weekends with almost 7 million boardings 19 units for curb to curb service for disabled clients unable to access fixed route buses In 2000, the district’s population was 369,417. In 2007, it was 437,236, an increase of 18%
