The Answer John 18:28-37 John 19:5-9
John 18:28-37 • 28 Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover. • 29 Pilate then went out unto them, and said, What accusation bring ye against this man? • 30 They answered and said unto him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up unto thee. • 31 Then said Pilate unto them, Take ye him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death: • 32 That the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spake, signifying what death he should die. • 33 Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews? • 34 Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me? • 35 Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done? • 36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. • 37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.
John 19:5-9 • 5 Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man! • 6 When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him. • 7 The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God. • 8 When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid; • 9 And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.
Luke 11:53-54 • 53 And as he said these things unto them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to urge him vehemently, and to provoke him to speak of many things: • 54 Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse him.
Romans 8:6-8 • For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. • 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. • 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
2 Peter 1:20-21 • 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. • 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
John 10:23-25 • 23 And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch. • 24 Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly. • 25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.
1 Peter 3:15 • 15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
1 Timothy 1:4 • 4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. 1 Timothy 6:3-5 • 3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; • 4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, • 5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
2 Timothy 2:23 • 23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
