  2. Mathematics Department 9th Grade Curriculum • Algebra 2 (ALP) • Geometry • Algebra 1 (majority of students) • Intro to Algebra

Intensive Math 9 & 10 ( Double Dose) • Successfully implemented in 2008 – 2009 • All students not meeting proficiency on 8th grade CMT or 9th grade CAPT practice test will be required to take 2 math classes in freshman and / or sophomore year to review areas of weaknesses with the goal of passing CAPT in 10th grade.

  4. Students are placed in levels designated • Honors • Level 1 • Level 2 All levels prepare students for college.

  5. CMT Scores Teacher Recommendation Grades Student Readiness & Motivation Counselor Recommendation Parent Input Course Placement and Level are determined by:

  6. Course SequenceHonors and Level 1 • Algebra 2 Pre-Calculus AP Calculus • Geometry Algebra 2 Pre-Calculus • Algebra 1 Geometry Algebra 2 * Level 2 • Algebra 1 Geometry Algebra 2 * • Intro to Intro to Algebra Geometry Algebra 1A *Majority of students take these courses

  7. Senior Year Electives - Full Year • AP Calculus AB, BC ( UConn ECE credit) • AP Statistics ( UConn ECE credit) • Honors Calculus • Pre-Calculus Note: Graduation requires 3 successful years of math in HS.

  8. Senior Year Electives - Half Year • College Algebra • Trigonometry • Into to Statistics Note: These Level 2 classes were new in 2008 -2009.
