Genre According to Marcuschi: The genres are the texts found in our daily life. They present socio-communicative characteristics defined by style, function, composition and content. To Textual Linguistics, genres include these and all documents produced by users of a language. Along with the chronicles and the tale, we also identify a personal letter, the telephone conversation, email, and many other examples of genres that circulate in our society.
