Personalities Competitor • Win/Lose: When you go after what you want without considering the needs/feelings of others. • Positive: high energy • Negative: Put downs and judge “You’re wrong”, “That’s stupid” Compromiser • Half win/Half lose: Meeting others half way • Positive: Resolves conflicts “Let’s split the difference”, “What do you think/want” • Negative: Slow solutions Collaborator • Win/Win: Idea people, think outside the box • Positive: all group members feel involved and have input • Negative: overwhelming “Oh what about this…Oh or we could do it this way” Gives In • No Conflict: People don’t share their ideas; they end up just saying ok to whatever is presented. • Positive: works well with competitors • Negative: hard to get motivated, they give up, and don’t add input “I don’t care”, “Whatever” Avoider • Lose/Lose: People who try to leave the conflict situation, those that put their heads down and sleep. • Negative: they are part of the problem and not the solution • “Can I go to the bathroom?” “You do it and I’ll just find out later”
