  3. A little about Mrs. Olla • I have an Engineering degree and two other degrees • I came from the U.K. • I love science • I like yoga, snowboarding, dancing • I sing sentences rather than talk when I’m really happy!

  4. My Commitment • Make Environmental Science classes as interesting and fun as I can but… • Always show you and treat you with respect • Will take shared responsibility for your learning • Will always do the right thing for you (even if you don’t like it!)

  5. SVN3E Course Breakdown 5 main units: • Human impact on the Environment • Human Health and the Environment • Natural Resource Science and Management • Energy Conservation • The Safe and Environmentally Responsible Workplace

  6. Overall Course Breakdown 70% = Assignments, tests and quizzes • This work is done in class. • You need to get a mark of at least 60% to do well 10% = Final Exam 20% =FSE Final summative exam

  7. My expectations of you! • Be respectful, responsible, do the right thing! • Complete ALL your work – bell work, class work and assignments. • Catch up if you miss anything! • Take responsibility for your own learning.

  8. MRS. OLLA’s CLASS RULES • NO talking while Mrs. Olla is talking. • NO eating or drinking (unless water) in class. • NO texting in class. • NO coats, hats or hoods on in class. • NO swearing in class. • NOONE is allowed to leave 15 mins at the beginning of class OR15 minsat the end of class. • You are only allowed 2 bathroom or water breaks a week!

  9. Daily Routine • Bell-work • Review of work • Minds On Activity/Discussion • Main lesson - Mrs. Olla’s talk time, your listening time! • Class Activity/Work • Putting it all together

  10. Bell-Work This will be the same EVERYDAY and will contribute to your overall ‘thinking’ marks!

  13. SCHOOL RULES JEOPARDY GAME • You have all been given a piece of a picture. • You have 5 minutes to find the other people in your group that make the full picture. • This is your Jeopardy team!
