Highlights of the medical changes for the 2017-2018 employee benefit open enrollment, including premium increases, deductible contributions, and the option to establish Health Savings Accounts.

Highlight of Medical Changes • Premium increase 5% all plans except for the $300 plan which is 15%. • Enrollment is closed for $300 plan, this is the last year for that plan. • 4th Quarter Deductible Carryover removed from all plans • All groups will now have District deductible contributions to the $1200, $2600 and $5000 deductible plans. • All employees can establish a Health Savings Account with SelectAccount if you elect the $5000 deductible plan. • Existing funding in your VEBA can only be used for Dental and Vision expenses • Employee that get a District contribution to the $5000 plan can direct the District amount to an HSA instead of VEBA if you wish

Health Savings 101 • Can only establish with the $5000 deductible plan • If you have a VEBA with funds and you wish to establish an HSA, the VEBA funds will only be able to reimburse dental and vision expenses • Can not be enrolled in: • Spouse’s medical plan (ie dual coverage) • Spouse’s flexible spending medical account • Spouse’s VEBA plan • Medicare
Health Savings 101 • IRS 2017 HSA contributions limits: • Individual coverage: $3,400 • Family coverage: $6,750 • If you are age 55 or older the limits above are increased by $1,000 • Contributions include employee and employer amounts. • Funds unspent in your HSA account roll over from year to year.
Supplemental Life • Coverage is moving to Lincoln Financial Group • Open Enrollment this year only. • Minimum $10,000 • Maximum $150,000 (limited to 5 times your salary) • If you elect, than each year you can increase by $10,000 or $20,000 on a guaranteed basis

Also if the District is making a deductible contribution to this plan you can direct that money to the HSA also.
