INTRODUCTION • Stratford on Avon DC has an annual State of the District Debate as per the Council’s Constitution – this is the start. • Consultation with the public and with Councillors. • This year public consultation through the Community Forums and SDC website. • Will report back to Autumn Forum on issues raised and proposed actions.
SHIPSTON LOCALITY CENSUS HIGHLIGHTS Comparison with all 30 localities in Warwickshire • Shipston Locality Population = 18,942 • Higher proportion of those aged 55 or more at 39% vs. County 31% • Lower numbers in the 15 to 34 age group (17%) vs. County (24%) • 4th highest % of people living in one person households (65+) at 15.1% • 5th highest of 30 localities for % of “white British” at 95.5% • More likely to have three or more cars (16% vs. 10% County) and live in a detached house (46% vs. 28% County) • 8.9% of people work mainly at or from home, the highest % in the county (4.3%) • Have the highest % of self-employed workers in the county (Males -24% vs. 14% County, Females 13% vs. 6% County)
SHIPSTON LOCALITY RESIDENTS SURVEY HIGHLIGHTS Comparison with rest of District • 46% of residents in area feel public transport most needed improving (District Average 35%) • 32% thought job prospects most needed improving (District Average 24%) • More residents in this area 20% versus 15% of District, disagreed that people from different backgrounds get on well together • 66% of Shipston area residents, versus 56% in District were satisfied with grass cutting services • Shipston area more likely to give unpaid help at least once a year than other parts of District 62% vs 53% • Exactly a fifth of those living in this locality were dissatisfied with Warwickshire Police – District Average 15%
