  1. This demo shows how to create a simple multiple choice exercise using drop down menu boxes with the forms tool within MSWord.

  2. Start with the text you wish to use

  3. Click view / toolbars / forms

  4. Delete the text you wish to replace and making sure the cursor stays in place, click the drop-down form field button.

  5. A grey box appears in place of the text. This can be removed by clicking the “a” button. Click the form field options button.

  6. Click the space bar a few times so that the space will appear empty at first / click Add.

  7. Type in the first choice – it’s best to leave one space before and after the word / click Add.

  8. Type in any other choices / click Add. You’ll notice a list of choices is created. Click OK

  9. Add any more drop down menus you wish. Before saving you must “lock” the page by clicking the padlock button.

  10. Save the document as “read only” by choosing general options in the tools menu as shown.

  11. Click the “read-only recommended” box

  12. The document will contain drop down multiple-choice exercise that the user can complete and email to a tutor if appropriate.
