  2. OUR DEPARTMENT The Department of Posts is under Ministry of Communications, Government of India. Department of Posts comprises of two wings viz. Postal and Railway Mail Service (RMS). The Director General is the head of the department. He is also ex officio Chairman, Postal Services Board and Secretary to the Government of India.

  3. POSTAL SERVICES BOARD AND MEMBERS The Chairman Postal Services Board is assisted by the Members. Member Operations Member Personnel Member Human Resources Development Member PLI Member Technology Member Planning ADMINISTRATIVE SET UP The country is divided into 22 Postal Circles. CPMG/Principal CPMG is the head of the Circle who is in charge of both Postal and RMS wings.

  4. Administrative set up contd... Each Postal Circle is divided into Regions. A Postmaster General is in charge of each region. Every Postal Region has Postal Divisions and RMS divisions. SP/SSP is the head of the Postal Division. SRM/SSRM is the head of RMS Division. The Postal and RMS divisions are further divided into Sub divisions. Inspector Posts/Asst Supdt of Posts will be in charge of Postal /RMS sub division. Each Circle will have Circle Stamp Depot., which gets stamps from Security Press and distribute it to Head Post Offices. Postal Stores Depots in different regions of the Circle supply forms and stationery to Postal and RMS offices.

  5. Office of the SSRM/SRM • Administrative control over all the offices and officials under him. • Office recruits, promotes, transfers and grants leave to staff. • Manages the establishment and stock. • Most important function to review and order mail arrangements
