  3. Course Description: This course will focus on what research in second language acquisition SLA tells us about language teaching and learning. The course will discuss different methodologies of foreign language teaching with special emphasis on the ones currently enjoying widespread use. The course will adopt practical applications of SLA theories and methodologies by the students.

  4. Assessment and grading: 50% final exam. 20% Mid-term exam. 20% 2 Quizes 10% Term Project (Oral presentation)

  5. Term Project : Weekly (Oral presentations) • By the End of every lecture, certain linguistics topics will be assigned by the lecturer to some students to make a group work in order to prepare an oral presentation at the beginning of the next lecture. You may use a power point presentation and/or an oral report with visuals (poster, collage, original artwork, digital images displayed on screen, etc.) illustrating your point in full details. Every group shouldn’t take more than 20 minutes to finish their presentation . Students’ presentations will be scheduled by the lecturer.

  6. Presentation tips: • prepare well in advance; • Arrive early and get a feel for the room, including its temperature, size, and overall set-up. Re-arrange furniture as needed. • promote a welcoming and non judgmental learning environment. • Provide written materials of key content for future reference. • Use natural gestures and voice inflection to add interest to your presentation. • Don’t forget to Be creative .
